The most prominent difference between polypropylene and hostaflon is the massive difference in price, with hostaflon costing over 10 times more than polypropylene.

There is also a working temperature difference of about 120°c. Polypropylene has a working temperature of 80°c, whereas hostaflon can reach up to 200°c.

The best way to tell the difference between the 2 materials is by dropping a piece into some water. If the piece floats, it is polypropylene, if not then it is hostaflon.

Both materials are popular in the manufacturing of demisters and mist eliminators. Hostaflon is the strongest material to use for this product, whereas polypropylene is a cheaper alternative, but will not withstand as high a temperature or acid and chemical exposure. Polypropylene will also not last as long when exposed to UV.
